Solidarity, learning and service
The European Solidarity Corps connects young people with activities that benefit communities. Volunteering may be individual or team-based and can take place at home or abroad, depending on the opportunity.
For general activities you may register from age 17, although participation starts at 18 and normally must begin before turning 31. Humanitarian aid volunteering has separate rules and required training.
Registration and meeting organizations
Official registration takes place on the European Youth Portal through EU Login. You then complete a Corps profile so funded organizations can contact candidates, and you can express interest in open opportunities.
Registration does not guarantee a place. Always read the call and confirm that residence, age and availability match.
Support around the activity
Before accepting, tasks, schedule, accommodation, financial support, insurance, training, mentoring, language learning and emergency contacts should be clear. A volunteering agreement or Solidarity Contract records the conditions.
Participation must not involve paying a fee. Be wary of anyone charging money to offer an official programme placement.
You also have responsibilities
The environment must be respectful and safe, and participation is always voluntary. Participants are also expected to respect the community, the host organization, reasonable rules and agreed tasks. If reality differs from what was promised, document the issue and contact your supporting organization or the relevant agency.
